5. Vampire's Kiss
Ingredients
25 milliliters vodka
20 milliliters cherry brandy
Dash of grenadine
Champagne or Prosecco
100 grams (0.44 cups) sugar
50 milliliters (1/4 cup) light corn syrup, for example, Karo
50 milliliters (1/4 cup) water
Drop or two of red food coloring
Directions
First, prepare the blood sugar rim. Using the above measurements you will end up with more red, rim coating than you need but in order to dunk the cocktail glass successfully, you really need to make at least this quantity. To begin, add the sugar, syrup, and water to a pan and heat without stirring. Use a probe to measure the temperature. Once the mixture has reached 300 degrees Fahrenheit add a few drops of food coloring. Dip your cocktail glass into the red syrup as little or as much as you desire. The drips will dribble down and create a good, vampire-esk, bloody effect on the glass. Add the vodka, cherry brandy, and grenadine to a cocktail shaker with a few ice cubes and shake. Strain into your glass and top with prosecco or champagne. Serve.
6. Halloween Margarita
Ingredients
25 milliliters triple sec
25 milliliters Reposado Tequila
1-2 limes
60 milliliters sugar syrup
Black sea salt for the rim
Orange coloring (neon orange gel works a treat)
Directions
Make the sugar syrup if you don't have any prepared. Add equal parts of caster sugar and water to a pan. Dissolve the sugar and then put it in the fridge to cool. Crush up a handful of black sea salt and spread over a plate. Cut a wedge of lime and slit it down the middle then wipe it around the rim of a Margarita glass and get busy dipping each section of the rim circumference into the salt. Use a knife to carefully push the salt around the edge if it doesn't stick readily. Squeeze 20 milliliters of fresh lime. Add ice to a cocktail shaker and pour in the tequila, Cointreau, lime, sugar syrup, and orange juice. Shake for about 15-20 seconds. Strain into the prepared glass.
